Caitlin Hosea, DVM

Dr. Caitlin Hosea grew up with horses as a constant throughout her life. From an early age, she devoted herself to riding and pursuing a future career in the equine industry. As a junior rider, she groomed and showed hunter/jumpers throughout Northern and Southern California. At 19-years- old, she moved from California, to Lexington, Kentucky, to call “horse country” her home in the center of the thoroughbred industry.

Dr. Hosea started her career in the equine industry as a rider for several trainers in Kentucky. The horses she trained ranged from show horses and off-the-track thoroughbreds to fox hunting horses. She did not originally envision a career in medicine. That changed after spending four years as an intensive care technician at a large equine hospital. In this role, she found her true interest in medicine and emerged determined to become an equine veterinarian herself.

She completed her undergraduate degree in Animal Science with a concentration in Equine Studies at the University of Kentucky. Throughout her undergraduate studies, Dr. Hosea worked as a veterinary technician, both at a large equine clinic and for racetrack practices. She obtained her Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine in 2015 from Oklahoma State University College of Veterinary Medicine, during which time she also completed a Farrier Certification Program.

Upon graduation, Dr. Hosea completed a year-long internship at Palm Beach Equine Clinic. She returned to Kentucky to practice at Keeneland Racecourse in Lexington. During this time, her practice focused on racehorses in training, as well as thoroughbred yearling sales and racehorses in rehabilitation. In January of 2021, she returned to PBEC as the primary treating veterinarian for all major horse shows.

Dr. Hosea currently resides in Palm City, Florida, and provides veterinary care throughout Martin and Palm Beach counties. Dr. Hosea provides comprehensive health care, with particular strength and interest in lameness, podiatry and diagnostic imaging.
