Gary T. Priest, DVM

Dr. Gary Priest graduated from Auburn University in 1976 and first joined M. B. Teigland and Associates in Miami, FL, working as an ambulatory veterinarian and in their surgical department. In 1977, he joined Woodford Veterinary Clinic in Kentucky as a surgeon and helped develop a highly successful farm and racetrack practice. During his time there, he pioneered ultrasound diagnostic technology in the area and was one of the first to perform arthroscopic surgeries in the horse.

In 1985 he assisted in establishing the clinic Harthill & Priest Equine Surgery in Kentucky, and has taken part in operating on more than 6,000 racing and sport horses. These horses have included many decorated and Kentucky Derby winners. Out of the many awards that Dr. Priest has received over the years, he is most proud of being named “Veterinarian of the Year” in 1996 for the State of Kentucky.

Dr. Priest returned to South Florida with his wife Kathy, a consistent competitor in dressage for over 20 years. Dr. Priest’s areas of expertise include sport horse medicine and upper airway function evaluations. Dr. Priest is experienced with the Dynamic Respiratory Endoscope developed in France by Optomed, a diagnostic technology available at Palm Beach Equine Clinic that allows veterinarians to accurately evaluate the function and performance of the horse’s upper airway.
