ELIZABETH BARRETT, DVM, MS, DACVS
Dr. Elizabeth Barrett grew up in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, Canada, and spent most of her time riding and showing in the hunters and jumpers. She attended the Atlantic Veterinary College in her hometown, graduating in 2009, before completing a surgery internship at Hagyard Equine Medical Institute in Lexington, KY. She then finished her equine emphasis surgical residency at Auburn University in Auburn, AL, in 2013. She became a board-certified surgeon in 2014. In 2023 she completed Curacore’s acupuncture certification.
Dr. Barrett returned to work at Hagyard for 8 years as an emergency surgeon and performance horse specialist. The majority of her time is spent at Sweet Oak Farm as staff veterinarian overseeing all aspects of their horses’ health. Outside of this time she likes to evaluate poor performance issues and covers out-of-hours surgery on call for Palm Beach Equine.
