Jorge Gomez, MVZ, MS, DACVS

Dr. Jorge Gomez earned his veterinary degree from the University of Caldas in
Colombia and spent 14 years practicing equine veterinary medicine in his home
country. He then relocated to the United States to complete a Master’s Degree in
Biomedical Sciences and a Surgical Residency at Auburn University, where he later
served as a Clinical Instructor in Equine Surgery. In 2004, Dr. Gomez became a
Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Surgeons (ACVS).
In 2005, he joined Hagyard Equine Medical Institute as a staff surgeon and sport horse veterinarian. Five years later, Dr. Gomez and his family moved to Wellington, Florida, where he began working with Palm Beach Equine Clinic in the same role.
Dr. Gomez has been an invited speaker at numerous national and international
veterinary conferences, including the Annual Meeting of the American Association of Equine Practitioners (AAEP) and events hosted by the ACVS. He has also served as a moderator on expert panels, such as “Lameness in Sport Horses” at the AAEP Annual Meeting.
In addition to lecturing and clinical practice, Dr. Gomez has authored two book chapters and multiple peer-reviewed articles on equine lameness and surgery. His extensive experience includes serving as a team veterinarian at the Olympic Games, World Equestrian Games, and Pan-American Games, representing teams from various countries.
