Karen Beste, DACVS

Dr. Karen Beste was born in Miami, FL, and grew up in Double Oak, TX. Dr. Beste competed in barrel racing as well as high school rodeo for four years. She then went to Texas A&M University and graduated with a B.S. in Biomedical Science. Dr. Beste also played on the Texas A&M Women’s Polo Team and was team captain her senior year. She then returned to College Station, TX, for veterinary school and graduated Magna Cum Laude from Texas A&M Veterinary School. Dr. Beste completed a surgical internship at Hagyard Equine Medical Institute in Lexington, KY, followed by a rotating internship at Cornell Ruffian Equine Specialist in Elmont, NY. Dr. Beste returned to Texas A&M for a large animal surgery residency, which she completed in 2018. Once Dr. Beste completed her residency, she then moved to Wellington, FL, and worked at Rood and Riddle Equine Hospital for a little more than two years. Dr. Beste took two years off and had her daughter Clara in January of 2022. Dr. Beste joined Palm Beach Equine Clinic in January of 2023. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her husband, Stephen, and their daughter Clara, traveling, and continuing to expand her knowledge in the field of equine surgery, sports medicine, and advanced imaging.
